A typical day at our child care centre Minto
At Redfern cottage we understand the importance of setting clear routines or the children in our care. Below is a guide for the routine the children follow at our Minto Childcare Centre.

7am to 8am | - Children are served breakfast (Weet- bix, other wholemeal cereals, wholemeal toast). - Children have access to free play indoor activities such as books, construction, drawing and puzzles. |
8am to 8:50am | Children are transitioned into their own age groups for story times and planned experiences. |
8:50am to 9am | Children are prepared for outdoor play with sunscreen and hats. Older children are encouraged to challenge their self help skills and accomplish these tasks independently. |
9am to 9:30am | Children are served morning tea with a side of fruits or vegetables and based of the weeks current menu that can be accessed by families. |
9:30am | Children transition outdoors to enjoy planned experiences. Experiences are developed to support children of all ages. Child to Educator ratios are maintained at all times whilst outdoors to ensure excellent supervision of all areas. |
10:30am (flexible) | Children are slowly transitioned back into their indoor learning environments with their peers and educators. Transitioned are encouraged to be positive for children through music and movement instructions. |
10:45am to 11:45am | Educators support the children interests, individual milestones and goals by providing intentional teaching experiences. Examples include, sensory experiences, arts & crafts, construction, numeracy, literacy activities. Child to Educator ratios are maintained at all times whilst educators ensure to be seated and interacting with children. |
11:45am | 0-2 Years & 2-3-Years children are provided with delicious lunches. Any dietary requirements are observed. |
12:15pm | 3-4 Years children are provided with delicious lunches. Any dietary requirements are observed. |
12:45pm | 4-5 Years children are provided with delicious lunches. Any dietary requirements are observed. |
11:45am to 1:45pm | - Beds are provided for children requiring a rest. Quiet environments with calming music is provided to support these children. Non sleeping children are encouraged to have a 15 minute pause break to rest themselves briefly. - Quiet activities such as books, drawing and puzzles are provided to non-sleeping children. |
1:45pm to 2pm | Children are prepared for outdoor play with sunscreen and hats. Older children are encouraged to challenge their self-help skills and accomplish these tasks independently. |
2pm to 2:30pm | Children are served afternoon tea with a side of fruits or vegetables and based of the weeks current menu that can be accessed by families. |
2:30pm to 4:30pm | - Children are transitioned outside to enjoy free-play outdoor experiences. - Parents begin collecting children for the day. |
4:30pm to 6pm | - Children who have yet to be collected transition indoors to continue free-pay with indoor activities. - Late snack is provided (rice cakes, cracker & cheese etc). |
